Your stay
The Fischerhütte, at 2,049 meters, is Lower Austria’s highest mountain hut and is located just a few steps from the Klosterwappen, the state’s highest point at 2,076 meters.
It can be reached from the Schneebergbahn’s summit station in about 60 brisk or 80 leisurely minutes on foot. Those who prefer a more athletic challenge can tackle the demanding ascent from the Weichtalhaus in the Höllental, starting at an elevation of 1,482 meters.
Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded not only with breathtaking views but also with authentic mountain hut specialties, especially the famous Blunzenpalatschinken. And if you’d like to savor the special atmosphere of the Schneeberg even longer, you can spend the night at the Fischerhütte. You can’t get much closer to the summit in Lower Austria.
